Answered Prayers

  • The girls have all gotten into schools! Mady, Riley, and Eleanor are all at the same school .3 miles from our house! Emma will be only a short bus ride away.
  • We were able to with minimal tears get all our required uniforms!
  • Kris has joined a Senior Adult Small Group on Thursdays- He will be able to teach on September 11!
  • We've connected with church members this month to learn culture and the history of the region we live in.
  • Our house continues to come together and is starting to feel more and more like home each day.
  • We celebrated Mady's birthday and followed the plans she created to celebrate the day!
  • We're continuing to get to know our neighbors and learn their stories.
  • We were able to have a day at the beach! We were unable to make it work before we left the States, so a day at the seaside was a sweet gift!
  • Aubree has been able to drive more this month to get around Manchester.
  • Riley and Eleanor have been asking questions about heaven and faith. We have lots of bed time conversations about Jesus and his throne.
  • We have been able to connect with our IMB Team this month for fellowship and ministry!
  • Your continued partnership through prayer!

September Prayer Requests

One thing that echos in our hearts and minds is that prayer is the work of this missionary journey, we can do nothing apart from Jesus! We would love for you to join us each week in praying over the work of ministry, our family, and life in Manchester.

  • Monday: Pray for the people of North Manchester to hear the Word of God and have receptive hearts. "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone" Isaiah 9:2 Pray for the light of the Gospel to shine on the hearts of the people of Manchester.
  • Tuesday: Pray for our home on Hawthorn Drive to be a place of hope, peace, and deep fellowship. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit". Romans 15:13 Join us in praying for opportunities to meet and love our neighbors, and dig into daily rhythms that will bless our family.
  • Wednesday: Pray for the girls as they continue adjust to life in England. Pray for opportunities for our family to play and find joy in the midst of stress. Pray for friends at school as we prepare to go to school September 4th. Pray for all of our hearts as we adjust to new routines and days of not being together. Pray that school would be an opportunity to share Jesus- both for the girls and parents! Philippians 4:7 and Proverbs 4:23
  • Thursday- Pray for our Marriage: Unity, understanding, and grace! Pray for both Kris and I to be fully dependent on the Lord throughout our days, that we would have grace and Joy in that dependence on Him! "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." John 15:4-5
  • Friday - Pray for our National Partner- Trinity Church. Pray for pastors P+M and their families. Pray for wisdom and a strong partnership between the church and our family. Pray for more relationships with churches in the Manchester area. Pray for Laborers to come to Manchester.

Stories from the Field

We have had countless transitions over the last year in preparation for coming to Manchester, but the season of settling and dwelling is upon us. We are committed to trusting in the Lord and doing good as we dwell in the land in order to meet our neighbors, learn our city, and pray over ways to cultivate faithfulness.

Our house is starting to feel more and more like home and each day we are learning new areas and new people.

We are so excited for what September has in store for us all, but we know it comes with grieving the season that is ending. For me and the girls it's the flexibility, parental involvement, and adventure that home education allowed for the last 5 years. As school beings the first week of September my role as teacher shifts.

Philippians 4: 6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

The Lord has been kind to guard my heart as the girls shift from our home to public school- reminding me that not only is He guarding my heart and mind, but theirs. That the whole armor of God is for them as much as it is for me. My role as formal educator has shifted, but watch- "woman" over their hearts has not. My call as a mother can still be found in Deuteronomy 4:9,

"Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children."

The Lord has asked us to use our time differently in this next season. Our job is to watch and listen diligently, very diligently to be able to proclaim boldly the Lord's work here in our city. We all get a front row seat to the faithfulness of the Lord in Manchester.

Our days are marked by remembering the daunting task before us: how to impact lostness in our city. We walk past thousands of people in Manchester that have either no hope or a counterfeit hope because they live their lives without Christ. Our plan for September is to start prayerfully mapping the city while the girls are at school. We have a highlighter and a map and our goal is to walk and pray over each street in our borough, Salford. We are grateful for your partnership in this through your faithful prayers and through giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering!

We would love to hear from you! Please reach out and let us know how we can be praying for you! We'd love to schedule a time to chat or get the girls your address- they're definitely looking for some pen pals!
