October 2025: Ready and Steady

October 2025: Ready and Steady

Field Issue #9

" I am the LORD, I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness." Isaiah 42:6-7

October Prayer Requests

One thing that echos in our hearts and minds is that prayer is the work of this missionary journey, we can do nothing apart from Jesus! We would love for you to join us each week in praying over the work of ministry, our family, and life in Manchester.

  1. Monday: Pray for our National Partner- Trinity Church. Pray for Pastor P + M and their wives. Many pastors in the UK leave ministry from burnout- pray life and refreshing over them!
  2. Tuesday: Pray for boldness and spiritual conversations where we can share the gospel! As we prayer walk, map the city, pick up our children from school- and all the other moments of our day. People here in Manchester without the gospel go to hell- pray that would be the main focus of our days!
  3. Wednesday: We have had fear, anxiety, and anger bubble to the surface in the girls. Pray for joy and peace within our family and wisdom and patience as we parent in love. Pray for salvation for Riley and Eleanor. Isaiah 50:4
  4. Thursday- Pray for us to be fully dependent on the Lord throughout our days and that we would have grace and joy in our dependence in Him! John 15:4-5
  5. Friday - Pray for relationships: that we would build deep friendships, relationship with our neighbors, and meet more families at school! We want to start hosting playdates for the girls and really investing in friendships for them!

Stories from the Field

October has been full of steadying. We have spent this month maintaining life giving rhythms of family, school, and work for our family. The new and fun of school has worn off and the work of continuing begins.

Kris and I have found a great rhythm of taking the girls to school and then prayer walking through local park. We have been able to pray for our church, our neighbors, and for a movement of the Lord here in Manchester. Our afternoons involve getting the daily report of all the events from school- friends, homework, and the adventures of the school yard.

We have been able to spend our days with ESL class, mapping, city research, preparing for future teams, connecting with local church leaders, and visiting the first Chick-fil-a in England!

One of our favorite church conversations this month was with a pastor from a local church planting network that was able to give us insight on how to come beside and serve the Church here in Manchester. He encouraged us to be ministers of encouragement to the local church. We were excited to hear about the "Quiet Revival" that people are noting here in the UK. The spiritual climate here is shifting. People are beginning to ask questions about faith and genuinely search for spiritual answers. We are eager to partner with our local church to begin an evangelism emphasis to engage those asking questions.

We heard recently a statistic that 4 out of 10 adults here in the UK typically have gone more than three days with out talking to another person face to face. With the darkness of winter upon us, we see an opportunity to share light and hope with the people we come in contact with.

We are thankful for October and the beauty that the British Autumn has blessed us with. Walking to school each morning with the primary school girls has given us a chance to daily take in the beauty.

But...

This place is like a real life Gotham City.

There is so much brokenness.

We need God to raise up a generation of believers who want maturity and multiplication!

Pray for Nov 1 as we will participate in a Church planting conference for everyday christians in Manchester to hear the nuts and bolts of planting gospel churches. Pray that our city will catch this vision of multiplication.
